NVT wheat germinating in direct drilled hemp stubble

Research Question

NVT involves the conduct of field trials of advanced fixed breeding lines, accepted for inclusion in NVT Trials, according to agreed protocols, to provide independent crop varietal evaluation data for growers. NVT Trials test Lines submitted by Breeders for independent benchmarking against other breeding lines and popular commercial varieties. When the Breeder releases Lines as varieties, the varieties may then remain in the NVT system for a number of years as check varieties.

Research Information & Objectives

What is being done?
• NVT’s currently contracted service providers manage the trials to ensure the collection of accurate data into a single database.

• Data generated in the NVT system is analysed for accuracy by GRDC contracted biometricians and scrutinised by owners of seed varieties (Breeders). Only when all the checks are complete is data made public.
