Research Question

This series of workshops was put together by Cam Nicholson, Nicon Rural, Lisa Miller, Jessie Wettenhall, Michelle McClure, SFS & Jane Gaussen, The Livestock Vet in response to the current 2024 dry-uncertain times experienced across South West Victoria. The aim of the workshops was to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to plan and make good decisions over the next 9 months. The workshops were delivered across 3 locations Lismore, Hamilton & Harrow at the end of August 2024 and second week of September. Workshop 1 (August) was measuring current pasture and predicting future pasture growth rates, animal and water consumption for the next 6 months.  Decision Making and introduction to the use of a decision matrix. Workshop 2 (September) was about understanding and managing the feed base, livestock management in dry times and the implications and Stock Containment.
