Women on Farms 101 plant session
Southern Farming Systems recently welcomed local women in agriculture to Rokewood for a hands-on Women on Farms workshop focused on building practical farming skills and strengthening local networks.
Participants visited the SFS trial site to learn about current research before taking part in paddock-based activities, including plant and weed identification, using the Pasture Paramedic tool, and conducting soil health assessments such as dispersion, slaking and pH testing.
The workshop provided valuable skills that can be applied on-farm while creating opportunities for women to connect, share experiences and learn from one another. The day concluded with lunch and networking at the Warrambeen Landcare Centre.
Thank you to everyone who attended. Registrations are now open for the next Women on Farms workshop on 8 September: Farming, Family & Future.
Women on Farms is funded by the Diverse Farms, Resilient Catchments growing diversity and resilience on-farms, in communities and across landscapes project is supported by the Australian Government through funding from the Natural Heritage Trust under the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program.
