Carbon Farming Outreach Program 2025 Workshops
Understanding carbon farming and greenhouse gas emissions can be quite complex and challenging to navigate. Over the last 10 years the information on carbon farming and greenhouse gas emissions is constantly evolving with differing thoughts on how and what individuals should or shouldn’t be doing, making it easy to feel overwhelmed and disinterested in the topic.
The Carbon Farming Outreach Program (CFOP) aims to support farmers and land managers to make decisions around carbon farming and increase knowledge of greenhouse emission management on farm.
Southern Farming Systems is collaborating with Grower Group Alliance for the delivery of the national industry–led Carbon Farming Outreach Program. Delivered with funding support from the Commonwealth of Australia through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water under the Carbon Farming Outreach Program.
The upcoming workshops will be held across Southwest Victoria, Gippsland and Tasmania and will kick-off in early 2025. These workshops will be presented by local advisors, Craig Drum, Simon Falkiner and Murray Johns, together with Southern Farming Systems staff James Palmer, Ashley Amourgis, Audrey Gripper and Brett Davey. It will focus on localised farming systems and environments.
The workshops will cover the mechanics of greenhouse gas emissions and carbon farming, what is driving the growing pressure from government and the supply chain to get involved, understanding and measuring your on-farm emissions and what opportunities farmers have to reduce these emissions. They will also go into detail around topics such as carbon calculators, carbon sequestration and carbon credits.
