Calm the Farm
How often have you heard or used the term “Calm the Farm”? Generally, under the times of stress. The National Centre for Farmer Health (NCFH) and Southern Farming Systems are holding a Calm the Farm workshop for rural women in the Southern Grampians region, Tuesday 28 May at HIRL.
Calm the Farm is a workshop that explores ways of reducing work related stress, with a focus on understanding the main work related risk factors to farmers’ mental health, exploring how these may be impacting you and your farm business and developing a plan to stay on track. This free wokshop is being delivered by the National Centre for Farmer Health with funding support from Western Victoria Primary Health Network and the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
Creating a happy health workplace is essential for sustainability and profitability. “This interactive 2 hour workshop will work through practical solutions to help maintain or improve job satisfaction and effectiveness for you and your farm business team” said Sally Cunningham, NCFH workshop facilitator.
“In our previous workshops the discussions have been around the farmers’ need to reduce stress, friction and misunderstandings in their farm businesses by improving communication and strengthening their ability to function as a strong team” she said.
“In the workshop we explore solutions that can be implemented and are known to have a positive impact on wellbeing, such as ensuring a team meeting happens each week and workers have a safe place to raise concerns” Ms Cunningham added.
