Feeding whilst lambing 2024 – what did we learn?

Thirty-one sheep producer businesses from south-west Victoria participated in a survey conducted by Southern Farming Systems, the South-West Node of the Victorian Drought Resilience and Adoption Hub. The survey aimed to understand how producers managed the challenges of lambing during the dry conditions experienced in 2024.  The absence of an autumn break left many producers without sufficient pasture to support pregnant or lambing ewes over winter. For many, it was the first time they had to resort to supplementary feeding during lambing.
