AgriFocus 2024

AGRIFOCUS 2024 is Southern Farming Systems leading technical event for high rainfall zone farming systems.  This unique event provides access for farmers & agronomists to the latest research and expertise.

AgriFocus is being held at the SFS Streatham trial site on the 16th October.  Keynote sessions will be themed around weed control and management techniques in a cropping system with Dr Chris Preston, University of Adelaide and Boonderoo Pastoral Company Farming Systems and Nuffield Scholarship on Pulse Supply Chains with Lachie Seears, Lucindale Farmer.

The choose your own adventure matrix is filled with presentations in the field offering both proof of concept in trials, and key information from leading experts.

The trials featured on the day will include:

  • Soils – Soil ameliorants of lime & gypsum Nathan Robinson CERDI, Soil Pit with Richard MacEwan
  • Cereals – Varieties, Disease management and resistance ratings update, Nutrition
  • Canola – Varieties, Disease management with Marcroft Pathology, Weed management, Plant densities
  • Faba Bean – Varieties, Disease management, Weed management
  • Vetch – Management for hay production with Matthew Sparke
  • Crop Sequencing – exploring crop rotation, diversity, intensity, sequence, end use and more
  • Carbon Farming Outreach Program, Southern Farming Systems is collaborating with Grower Group Alliance for the delivery of the National Industry-led Carbon Farming Outreach Program (CFOP). Delivered with funding support from the Commonwealth of Australia through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water under the Carbon Farming Outreach Program.
  • Meat & Livestock Australia NLIS & eID update and programs
  • Fertiliser Additives with Biolink 4 Plants & Animals
  • Plus exhibits from our partners, including machinery from Premier Partner Swayn and McCabe Claas Harvest Centre.

In 2024 all the catering at AgriFocus will be provided by the Willaura Bakery for a set fee of $25/head for Morning Tea, Lunch & Afternoon Tea, purchase your food voucher with your ticket. Please notify us of any dietary information so we can cater for your needs.

AgriFocus is located at 3524 Eurambeen – Streatham Rd, Streatham.  Follow the signs.

No entry via the “Blythvale” private driveway.

Closest towns with accommodation

  • Beaufort, Skipton & Lake Bolac are small towns within approx. 30min radius of Streatham with some boutique accommodation options
  • Ararat is a city approx. 40mins North West of Streatham and has a few main stream options for accommodation
  • Ballarat is approx. 1 hour East of Streatham and is a large city with many options
  • Geelong is approx. 2 hours from Streatham.
  • Melbourne Airport is approx 2.25 -2.5hours from Streatham.
